요한복음 1장 43절 ~ 51절

1-43.
The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. And he found Philip and said to him, "Follow me."


1-44.
Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

*Bethsaida : 원적일 일 것이다.


1-45.
Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."


1-46.
Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."

* 당시에는 베들레헴에서 다윗의 후손 중에 메시아가 나온다는 믿음이 있었다.


1-47.
Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said to him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no guile!"

* indeed : 정말로! 참으로!
* guile : 간교한 속임수, 유사어) deceit


1-48.
Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you."

* fig tree : 무화과 나무


1-49.
Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!"


1-50.
Jesus answered him, "Because I said to you, 'I saw you under the fig tree', do you believe? You shall see greater things than these."


1-51.
And he said to him, "Truely, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man."

* 은유적 표현: 이적이 아니라 하늘과 성령으로 교섭하는 것의 표현.
* Son of man : "인자(=I, 사람으로써 일인칭의 강조적이며 겸손적 표현)"로 해석하는게 좋다.(사람의 아들이라는 표현보다)
* 인자(Son of man)라는 표현은 복음서에만 나옴.(당시 다른 곳에서는 나오지 않음.)

* 누가복음 9장 58절 : Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.

* 신성을 표현할 때(divinity) : The Son of God
* 인성을 표현할 때(humanity) : The Son of man
* 인성도, 신성도 100% 훌륭하다.
